Cyclist thrown over handlebars after hitting pothole in CCTV at Scots restaurant

This is the moment a cyclist was sent flying over his handlebars after he struck a huge pothole on a Renfrewshire road.The crash happened outside El Jefe's in Giffnock on the morning of Thursday, March 30 and was captured on restaurant's CCTV.

Feeling sorry for the stricken rider, co-owner Jamie Lessani shared a clip of the incident on social media in the hopes of tracking him down and offering him a free meal.Posting the video to Instagram, Jamie wrote: "We would like to find out who this guy is… we want to send our taco love out and give you a free meal on us…"Speaking to Glasgow Live, Jamie said that the man came into the Fenwick Road eatery following the incident and spoke to a member of staff.

He was in a bit of pain and asked them if they had something he could measure the hole with."When I checked the CCTV, I saw how bad it was, and it could have been a lot worse," explained Jamie. "I've been trying to get the pothole fixed for a while."I'm an avid cyclist and I've had something similar happen to me so I'm just glad he's ok."Thankfully, the story has a happy ending, as Jamie has since been able to find the man who is booked in to enjoy his free meal this evening.

Since the accident, the pothole has also been fixed, which Jamie believes is thanks to his online appeal.He said: "Everyone was very supportive in trying to find him, and there were a lot of people contacting us about it – and even a few people trying to say it was them – but we managed to find out the real gentleman was."He's been in contact with us and he's coming in for dinner this evening for a free meal, as we are true to our word and the best thing about it, is that the pothole was actually fixed this morning.Jamie added: "The guy is now very happy
