Coronation Street legend to return to explosive Gail Platt exit plot - and fans will be delighted
ok.co.ukCoronation Street is bringing back comedian John Thomson for Gail Platt's upcoming exit storyline, after reportedly axing Martin Platt's return.The Cold Feet star will become the new love interest of Gail Platt as star Helen Worth, 73, prepares to leave the ITV soap after 50 years.
Helen announced in June that she would be leaving Coronation Street after being given "the most incredible scripts week in week out", and revealed that Gail would "bid farewell to Weatherfield in a major storyline for the Platt family".
It comes after Corrie legend Martin Platt was revealed to be returning in July, with Sean Wilson set to reprise his role. However, according to The Sun, Sean's upcoming storyline has been axed, with Martin stepping down from filming "for personal reasons".
John Thomson previously played a biker on the Cobbles in 1990 before returning as Jesse Chadwick from 2008 until 2010. John's return is set to revive the feud between Gail and Eileen Grimshaw, who dated Jesse on the soap.
