A man who died while carrying out construction work on Everton's new stadium has been named. Michael Jones, 26, from Kirkby, Merseyside, died after being injured at the Bramley-Moore Dock site in Liverpool on Monday Emergency services were called at around 1pm on Monday.
Michael was taken to hospital but sadly died from his injuries later, Merseyside Police said. In a statement, Mr Jones’ family said: “The family would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support.

We want to thank the NHS staff and work colleagues who did their best for Michael. He will be missed beyond words.” On Monday, Everton FC tweeted that everyone at the club was “heartbroken” by the news.
