A brave police officer was killed by a train while attempting to save a man's life. Sergeant Graham Saville, 46, was struck last Thursday while trying to help a man who was electrocuted near Bulpit Lane level crossing, Balderton, Nottinghamshire.

He later died surrounded by family in hospital. The married father-of-two has been described as 'hugely respected' by his colleagues at Nottinghamshire Police while flags were flown at half-mast to honour his memory.

A JustGiving crowdfunder was set up to help Sergeant Saville's family and rapidly met its £100,00 target with close to 5,000 people donating, the Mirror reports.
