The chickenpox vaccine should be introduced for children on the NHS, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has recommended.

They suggest two doses of the jab, also known as the varicella jab, should be given to youngsters when they are 12 months and 18 months old.

The JCVI also suggests a temporary catch-up programme for older children. The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) will now consider this recommendation.
