Celtic and Rangers braced for Super League 2.0 as more than 50 invitations sent for seismic European football revamp

The European Super League have confirmed they want to reboot the project that went up in flames two years ago, it's been claimed.

Scottish Premiership giants Celtic and Rangers have been on red alert for some time over the possible game-changing alteration of football in Europe, with contact made with 'more than 50 clubs in the hope of creating a new European tournament' according to The Telegraph.

It was reported last year that the Glasgow pair were to be targeted as part of fresh plans, with this version being multi-division competition of 60 to 80 teams that has no permanent members, and a minimum of 14 games each season for every competitor.

Three rebels remain – Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid – after English Premier League clubs stepped away from the movement following a fiery fan response in 2021.
