Castle from Outlander to host free summer food and drink festival

A free food and drink festival is set to take place at the Dean Castle later this month.Following the Tastes of Ayrshire event at the recently refurbished venue, Ayrshire Food An' A' That has once again teamed up with East Ayrshire Leisure for a summer food and drink festival.The historic Kilmarnock castle courtyard, famed for appearing in hit TV series Outlander, will host the event on Sunday, August 27 from 11am with producers showing off some of the best of Ayrshire produce for visitors to try and buy.Mark Hunter will be bringing his demo kitchen and showcasing what can be created with local produce.And local food and drinks trucks will keep foodies fed and watered and a host of activities across the castle and gardens will keep everyone entertained.An East Ayrshire Leisure spokesperson said: "Taking place in the beautiful castle courtyard, which might be familiar to Outlander fans, will be a market showing off some of the best of Ayrshire produce for you to try and buy."Mark Hunter and his brilliant demo kitchen will be showcasing what can be created with local produce and local food and drink trucks will keep you fed and watered as well as a host of activities across the castle and garden.
