Car bursts into flames after pedestrian knocked down near Scots park

One person has been rushed to hospital after being knocked down by a car that later burst into flames in Glasgow. Emergency services rushed to Elder Park on Langlands Road in Govan shortly after 3pm this afternoon.

The driver is understood to have crashed the motor into the railings, hitting a pedestrian before the vehicle caught fire. One eyewitness said the car was already being consumed by flames when the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the scene.

Photographs of the incident show firefighters battling to get the inferno under control as dark clouds of smoke can be seen billowing from the car, Glasgow Live reports.

Police Scotland confirmed they were in attendance at the incident and said enquiries are currently ongoing.
