Cambuslang Rangers rebuild steps up as boss lines up targets

Cambuslang Rangers boss Paul McColl hopes to make major steps towards building next season’s squad this week – but says there’s still a lot of work to do.McColl still has a handful of players from last season, including striker Carlos Lyon and former Rangers winger Owen McGinty, and says he has “nine or 10” solid signings made.But several more are coming in this week, and McColl hopes to significantly bolster the ranks.Cambuslang Rangers return to pre-season training tonight (Wednesday), and McColl said: “We’re going to need to sign 18 to start with, maybe 20, so we have a bit of work to do.“They’re not all going to be brilliant, because we don’t have the money for that.“A few boys have signed, a few others are coming in to sign, there are a few I’m going to look at who have been recommended, and hopefully I’ll sign them.“I’ve signed a few boys and their registrations aren’t through yet, but a lot of teams are just flashing up players that aren’t theirs yet.

I’ll wait until the end of June.“There are a couple of good signings there, and a couple of experienced players.“Carlos Lyon and Owen McGinty have re-signed as well, so hopefully we’ll have a decent enough squad.“We need to see a few of them in training, but we’ll get there.“We’ve got maybe nine or 10 there, solid ones, and we’ll have ones to pick from, and a couple of under-20s that have been recommended, so we’ll have a look at them.“We’ve got a goalie coming in.
