Elderslie is being targeted as a new tourist hotspot with a bid to make more of the area’s connection to William Wallace. The hope is that the village can lean on its historical link to one of the most significant characters in Scotland’s history to attract more visitors to the area. The Elderslie Wallace Foundation has been set up by local pair John O’Neill, 75, and Lindsay Brown, 53, and they’re seeking to get more people on board with their plans for the area which, in some quarters, is thought to be the birthplace of the Scottish knight who became one of the main leaders during the First War of Scottish Independence.“The foundation was founded to preserve the workings of William Wallace in Elderslie.
