Tam McManus has dismissed comparisons between Rangers star Borna Barisic's challenge on Matty Kennedy and the lunge from Aberdeen captain Anthony Stewart's sending off.The Croatia international was shown a yellow card by referee Nick Walsh as the dramatic Viaplay Cup semi-final approached the 90 minute mark, when the full-back flew into a challenge on Aberdeen wide man Kennedy and was quickly given a yellow card by the man in the middle.

Moments later, Dons' skipper Stewart would be sent off for a reckless challenge of Rangers star Fashion Sakala, leaving his teammates to see out extra time with 10 men.Comparisons between the two flashpoints have been drawn by some fans, but former Hibs star McManus was quick to play down the tackle from the Ibrox defender on Kennedy.

Speaking on the PLZ Football Show, he said: "I saw some people thinking it was a red card, but not for me. I don't think Barisic was a red card."I don't think he is dangerous and he has not come in at speed.

He has just come in at the side of him and tried to win the ball."I think a yellow card was a good decision. A lot of people think that was similar to the Stewart tackle (saying) if you give one you have got to give the other."It's at a different pace.
