Touching tributes and first picture as man, 27 dies after motorbike crashes into lamppost

A man who died when a motorbike crashed into a lamppost in the early hours has been named as 27-year-old Joshua Corless, as tributes to him flood in.

As reported in the Manchester Evening News, the smash happened on the A577 Orrell Road in the Orrell area of Wigan, near to the Raj Gate Indian restaurant, at around 4.25am yesterday morning (April 25).

Police said they believe a motorbike was travelling east on the main road, towards Wigan town centre, when it 'crossed over to the offside carriageway'. The rider became 'unseated', a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said. Joshua has been named locally as friends paid tribute online to a man with 'the cheekiest smile', reports The Echo.
