A whole raft of MSPs from across the Scottish political spectrum have thrown their weight behind a new Paisley book. West Scotland member Russell Findlay submitted a parliamentary motion supporting ’16 Incle Street’ – a book from Jeff Holmes which tells the story of a man who murdered his wife in a Paisley tenement flat 100 years ago.

Every penny of profit from the book is going to Renfrewshire Women’s Aid in its ongoing battle against the scourge of domestic abuse.

Findlay is the Scottish Conservative deputy party spokesman on community safety and he told the Paisley Daily Express: “This important book explores a tragic episode in local history and it is telling that its publication is supported by one of Maggie’s relatives. “The book also highlights how society has changed so radically when it comes to the issue of domestic violence and abuse.“It’s clear that more needs to be done and it is to Jeff’s enormous credit that he’s donating the proceeds of his book to Renfrewshire Women’s Aid, who do a terrific job in our community.Renfrewshire Live, the new free app dedicated to bringing you around the clock breaking news, is now available to download.Powered by the Paisley Daily Express, Renfrewshire Live is your go-to source for news, features and sport with live coverage provided direct to the app, seven days a week. The dedicated team of experienced journalists, responsible for the publication of the award-winning Express, will focus on breaking news, day and night, across Renfrewshire’s towns and villages. There is also a dedicated St Mirren section that will follow every kick of the ball with the Buddies.
