Bolton Wanderers have named the heroes who tried to save a 71-year-old supporter's life during the club's match at the weekend.
Lifelong supporter Iain Purslow, from Oldham, tragically died after falling ill during Bolton's match against Cheltenham Town on Saturday (January 13).
The game was stopped while Mr Purslow, who was attending the game with his son Stuart, received treatment in the stands. In a statement this afternoon (Monday), Bolton Wanderers have paid tribute to the individuals who rushed to Mr Purslow's aid on Saturday, and released a moving photo tribute to pay their respects to the season ticket holder.
The statement said: "Following what has been a difficult and distressing few days for all involved, the club would like to express its heartfelt thanks to those who were directly involved in the extensive efforts to save Iain’s life on Saturday afternoon, including Lee Parker, a photographer and former paramedic who was first on the scene, supporters Dr Simon Irving, Dr Syed Bokhari and James Bracegirdle, steward Gerald McManus and the club’s medical team and Northwest Ambulance Service’s medical staff.
