Plans for a large ‘destination’ sports bar on the outskirts of Bolton have been unveiled. A planning application lodged this week reveals ambitious plans to create Smashley’s Sports Bar in three units at Dunscar Business Park on the northern outskirts of the town, near Egerton.

The plans also include restoring the former ‘Samuels’ clock, which was previously located above the jewellery store on Deansgate, Bolton as a feature at the new bar.

A design and access statement from applicant Nigel Moon of Smashley’s Ltd, said: “The new Smashley’s Sports Bar will create employment for up to 40 people directly and will be open seven days a week from 11am to 12pm, with extended licensing hours on Fridays and Saturdays till 2am. “There is also a proposal to relocate the Samuels’ clock from Deansgate to the gable of unit 1.” The site is located off the A666 Blackburn Road to the north of Bolton town centre and has been developed as a successful business park over the last couple of decades.
