Bellsmyre family overwhelmed by community response after 'losing everything' in fire

A Bellsmyre family have been left overwhelmed by the community response after their home was gutted by a fire.Three people were taken to hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation after the blaze on Merkins Avenue in Bellsmyre last Sunday (July 28), which devastated the ground floor flat - leaving the three children who lived there with nothing.Fire crews rushed to the scene at around 2.30pm and three people were taken to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where they were treated for smoke inhalation.A GoFundMe drive was launched which has seen the community rally to raise £1380 after the organiser told how the family have been left with nothing.It reads: “The three boys had all their clothes, toys and even their teddies that they slept with destroyed.“This is truly heartbreaking for anyone to lose everything that they own, never mind someone who is so close to you.“I have made this fundraiser to try to raise some money to help [them] try to get some clothes and essentials to live with whilst they wait on getting new accommodation where they can try and rebuild their lives again.“Anything would be greatly appreciated.”Initially the crowdfunder aimed to raise £500, but within a week £1,380 had been raised.An update from the organiser added: “The family are so overwhelmed with the donations and have passed on their thanks to everyone.“I can’t believe you have all doubled the target amount and more.“I will leave the donation page open just now as the family could do with all the help they can get as it’s going to be a long road to getting back to some sort of normality.“Once again thank you everyone for your donations and support.”A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were alerted at 2.30pm on
