An Ayr venue could be hailed as the best spot for live music in Scotland after being shortlisted for a national award.Venue38 are in the running for ‘Hi-Spirits Best Live Music Venue’ at this year’s Scottish Bar & Pub Awards.
The grassroots music venue are up against spaces from Stirling, Paisley and Glasgow- including the city's prestigious King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut.The awards, now in their 28th year, are Scotland’s longest-running licensed trade awards and are decided by a public vote.
Venue38 bosses say they are ‘well chuffed’ to be up for the title, as since taking over the Carrick Street venue in 2020 they have passionately shone a spotlight on Ayrshire and small town venues.Co-owner Tracy McGregor said of being shortlisted: “Delighted is an understatement.
We have the judges visit tomorrow so we’re looking forward to that. It means a great deal to us to be nominated by everyone and to be in the top five.
