Five men are currently on trial at Liverpool Crown Court accused of her murder.James Witham has admitted barging down the door of her home, where she was alone with her dog.
The Liverpool Echo reports that he went on to spray her property with bullets from a Skorpion machine gun.Witham, 41, claims that he didn't see or hear her inside.
He said that his attempt was to "send a message" to Ashley's boyfriend, Lee Harrison, who was not present at the time. The court heard how he claimed that he had been woken at around 10am the next morning by his dad who told him: "Sean's girl's sister's just been shot dead in her house".
