Antiques Roadshow is normally filled with valuations of old ornaments, pictures or jewellery from people's lofts. So viewers were floored when a guest arrived with his 'gran's breast implants' for appraisal. The man turned up with the unusual items on the American version of the BBC show, as it visited the Alaska National Heritage Centre.
He explained that he had brought along Dow Corning breast implants from 1965, made in Michigan, having inherited them from his grandmother as part of a family joke. "These are breast implants from 1965.They were made by Down Corning, Midland, Michigan," the guest explained. "A bit of a family heirloom, actually.
My grandmother found them at a garage sale - unused. It's a bit of a funny joke. I have my grandmother's breast implants." He said people always look puzzled when he tells them he has the implants in his possession.
He reassures people they are "new in box, still in the package. "They even come with instructions for performing the procedure," he added. The valuers couldn't help but laugh at the find and joked about someone doing a DIY implant operation.
