Airdrie player-boss delivers on captain's orders with special strike in Stirling success

Rhys McCabe revealed he was egged on by skipper Adam Frizzell before unleashing a rocket of a strike that helped fire Airdrie into the fourth round of the SPFL Trust Trophy.The player-boss rifled home from 35-yards to notch the second goal during their 3-2 win at Lowland League Stirling University, in a strike that had all the hallmarks of his finish last season against Montrose at Links Park.And McCabe - who has just returned from few weeks out with a knee injury - said when Frizzell asked him to replicate that moment at Forthbank, he was more than happy to deliver on his captain's orders.He said: "It was very similar to Montrose and Frizz actually said before it: Go on, do a Montrose."I think Stirling had two in the wall so they are almost giving you a free strike and I fancied my technique from that distance."It is just one of those ones where it depends how they set up.
