Airdrie will have a point to prove in their upcoming games with Montrose and Edinburgh, according to assistant manager Callum Fordyce. The Diamonds will hope to head into Christmas off the back of a victory when they travel to Links Park on Friday night, before hosting Edinburgh at New Broomfield to bring in the new year on Monday, January 2.With two heavy defeats against their capital rivals, Fordyce admits that’s a fixture he’s looking forward to, while last time Airdrie visited Links Park in October, they lost 4-2.Fordyce said: “Since my time at Airdrie I think we’ve played Edinburgh five times and we’ve not got a result, so there’s a point to prove there.“In the past two games against them they’ve beaten us, but I feel at time we’ve been hard done-by with stupid stuff going on, on the pitch [including a red card for Cammy Ballantyne that led to a 6-0 thumping on September 3].“I think we’ve got a point to prove in every game, really, and you have a point to prove to everybody who doubts you wrong.“You’ve got to go out there, put on a show and the most important thing is to get the three points, it doesn’t matter who the team is.“Before that we have Montrose, which is always a tight game.

They’re exciting games, and they’re a very good, experienced side with a good manager who knows what they’re doing, so it will be a game we’re looking forward to.“Hopefully we can go up there on Friday and get a good result, because it’s a hard place to go.”Meanwhile, Airdrie will be looking to strengthen in the January window, and Fordyce admits their squad is a bit threadbare. He said: “We’ve briefly spoken about it but not really named any names or anything like that, because you need to see what’s available.“Stuff just happens out
