Gardeners are being encouraged to leave a tray of water in their gardens this weekend in a bid to help out wildlife after days of scorching temperatures.
While many have enjoyed the warmer weather, especially following a particularly drizzly June and and early July, it can be detrimental to vital pollinators that keep our ecosystem afloat.
Bumblebees, along with regular old bees and wasps, are crucial to our physical health and the wider environment. As well as boosting our mood when we see them in our woods and gardens, they are also important for crop production that keeps food in stock at the supermarkets.
The World Wildlife Foundation has warned that bumblebee numbers are in serious decline due to habitat loss from factors such as pesticides, pollution, and climate change, as the Express reports.
