Temperatures are set to return to average this week after a cold snap swept the UK, including Greater Manchester. A light sprinkling of snow fell in many parts of our region on Saturday afternoon and evening, with temperatures several degrees below freezing overnight.

More snow fell on Sunday afternoon and into Sunday night. Snow and ice warnings issued by the Met Office across Greater Manchester remain in place today.

The yellow ice warning covers most of our region as well as much of the north of England. It came into force at 5pm last night and will remain in place until midday. It was issued at 8pm last night and runs until noon today. In the areas covered by the snow warning, forecasters warned up to 15cm of snow could fall on higher ground overnight.
