Bosses of an historic country pub famed for its Sunday roasts have announced its sudden closure - blaming "£10k a month" gas and electric bills.

The Frozen Mop is set in a 19th century barn building in rural Mobberley in Cheshire. In recent years the pub has been run by the Cheshire Pub Co, which also owns the likes of The Churchill Tree in Nether Alderley, The Ship at Styal and The Crown and Conspirator in Bramhall.

The pub is known for its unusual farmhouse style building, and its hearty traditional pub menu. But on Monday, October 2, it closed its doors to customers - in what bosses say is a temporary measure.

They issued a full statement on their social media accounts explaining the situation.
