Metallica have played ‘Inamorata’, their longest song to date, live for the first time – check out footage of the performance below.‘Inamorata’ is taken from the band’s 11th studio album ‘72 Seasons’, and it runs at just over 11 minutes.

Metallica are currently touring Europe in support of the album as part of the ‘M72’ tour, and gave the song its live debut on Sunday night (May 26) in Munich, Germany.“This next song, we have never, ever played live before,” frontman James Hetfield told the crowd, as captured in fan-shot video.“And, you know, in our band we don’t recognise the word ‘mistake’, because there are no ‘mistakes’.

There’s just unique moments that happen, all right? That’s what we need to tell ourselves. This one is from ’72 Seasons’. It’s one of my favourites, so I’m gonna like it.” Watch video of the performance below.While ‘Inamorata’ currently stands as the band’s longest song, the honour of Metallica’s longest recording goes to ‘Mercyful Fate’.

A medley of covers paying tribute to the work of the titular Danish heavy metal band, its runtime of 11:11 edges out ‘Inamorata’ by a second. ‘Mercyful Fate’ is included in the band’s 1998 compilation album ‘Garage Inc’.Metallica played two nights in Munich on this tour.
