Waitrose and Sainsbury's issue urgent recall on popular curry product over 'glass' fears

Sainsbury's and Waitrose have urgently recalled a popular curry product as it 'may contain glass'. Patak's Aubergine Pickle is made by AB World Foods and has been deemed unsafe to eat due to the potential presence of glass, even though the risk is said to be "very low".The recall notice was issued "as a precaution" by the Food Standards Agency.

The affected jars, which were only sold at Sainsbury's and Waitrose, carry the batch code 3172, weigh 312g, and have a best-before date of June 2026.Both supermarkets are urging customers who have bought the product not to consume it and to return it to their local store for a full refund, no receipt necessary, reports The Mirror Online.The Patak's brand offers a variety of Indian food products like cooking sauces, spice pastes, breads like naan and poppadoms, chutney and pickles.

AB World Foods, which also owns Blue Dragon, Levi Roots, Al'Fez and TABASCO, assured that no other Patak's product is affected by the recall notice.They apologised for any inconvenience caused and asked their customers to get in touch with their customer service team at 0800 0195 617 or at consumer.services@abworldfoods.
