Volkswagen Golf driver seriously injured after ploughing into railings

Police are appealing for witnesses following a crash in which a driver was seriously injured after ploughing into railings. The man, in his 30s, is receiving treatment in hospital following the smash in Wigan on Sunday morning.

Police say the Volkswagen Golf crashed into railings on Atherton Road at the junction with Leigh Road in Hindley Green at 6.30am. Police are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident - or may have dashcam or doorbell footage – to share it with GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
