Stacey Solomon defended by Giovanna Fletcher after 'ridiculous' mum-shaming over nails

Giovanna Fletcher has jumped to the defence of Stacey Solomon after the latter was mum-shamed for getting a manicure just weeks after the birth of her fifth child.

Stacey, 33, who welcomed daughter Belle earlier this month, showed off the spring-inspired French manicure on her Instagram, but found herself on the receiving end of a negative comment by one of her followers who said "very impractical nails for a newborn".

Mum of three Giovanna, 38, who is married to McFly's Tom Fletcher, slammed Stacey's mum-shamers as "ridiculous" during an appearance on C4's Steph's Packed Lunch after host Steph McGovern brought them up.

Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast host Giovanna said: "It’s ridiculous. Stacey can go and get her nails done if she wants to. "Any new mum is entitled to do whatever they want that makes them feel good." She continued: “We all know how hard it is, those first few weeks of having a new-born baby at home, they're so difficult. "Yes, it's amazing the fact that you've been able to bring this life into the world, and we know so many people who would love to be in that position. “But you've got no idea what's going on beyond that picture. "You've got no idea how many tears are being cried or you know how much sleep isn't being had and how difficult it actually is." She concluded: "So mum shaming, there's no space for it." A few days ago, Stacey took to her Instagram stories to show off her fresh set of acrylic nails, some of which were painted with tiny, delicate daisy patterns.
