Beloved BAFTA-winning actress Brenda Blethyn has hinted at embarking on a new venture after completing her final scenes as DCI Stanhope in the acclaimed ITV drama Vera, missing an event in the North East as a result.

For over a decade, Brenda has played the straight-talking detective of the hit television series Vera, capturing the hearts of viewers around the globe and securing her place as one of TV's leading ladies.

Fans were understandably saddened by the announcement that Vera would be drawing to a close with its upcoming 14th series next year.

Filming for the farewell season of Vera kicked off at the end of May, with the award-winning actress and her fellow cast members shooting across various Northumbrian locations including Blyth, Gateshead, Hartlepool, South Shields, and Ashington, with some of the final takes in the quaint village of Glanton.
