The Chase's Darragh Ennis has refuted suggestions that the show's celebrity contestants face simpler questions than normal participants. The popular ITV quiz programme, helmed by Bradley Walsh, pits four players against one of the resident brainiacs, a Chaser, in a tense battle for a cash jackpot.

In the celeb edition, stars match wits with the regular Chasers, aiming to nab some winnings for their chosen charities.Despite some armchair critics claiming that celebs get an easier ride, with apparently less daunting questions compared to those fielded by standard contestants, Darragh, who became a Chaser in 2021, recently took to the Happy Hour podcast to address and debunk these notions. He explained: "If you look at the scores and you look at the numbers, they may be slightly higher, very slightly higher.

But the selection process when you're dealing with celebs, you have a much smaller pool of people." Ennis further elaborated on why fewer celebrities might be inclined to take part: "There's a very large number of them who won't go on because they're so worried about their image.

If they don't think they're going to be good, they won't do it.", reports the Mirror. He contrasted this with the everyday folk enthusiasm: "In the general public, there's a lot of people who know they're going to be okay or not particularly good, but they go on because they really want to go on the show, most celebs won't do that."Darragh, who is known as 'The Menace' on The Chase, shared that the average celebrity guest on the show is "confident" and "isn't shy in front of the camera".He also revealed that some celebrities are "genuinely brilliant", including former England goalkeeper David James.
