Update on tragic Oliver Mawdsley case following 'workplace accident' arrests

Two men arrested following the death of a teenage boy in a 'workplace accident' in Bury have been bailed, police have said. Oliver Mawdsley, 17, died following an incident on an industrial estate on the outskirts of the town centre on Thursday (February 8).

Officers were called to Tile Street shortly after 10am, with fire crews and paramedics also attending. Despite their best efforts, a 17-year-old boy, now confirmed to be Oliver, died at the scene.

Witnesses reported a large police presence and paramedics in the hours following the tragedy. An investigation involving both Greater Manchester Police (GMP) and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) was launched.

A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and gross negligence manslaughter. A 36-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.
