Unexploded bomb removed from Glasgow street as residents return to homes

An unexploded bomb has been removed from a street in Glasgow following an incident this afternoon. Househillmuir Road in Pollok was locked down by police after the alarm was raised shortly after lunchtime on Sunday.

The street between number 386 and the junction with Dunside Drive was cordoned off by officers following a report of the possible "ordnance item" being found.Several properties were evacuated and locals were urged to avoid the area.Police have confirmed the street has now reopened and residents have returned to their homes after the item was removed by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team.A picture taken from the scene earlier today showed emergency crews in attendance as nearby Cleeves Primary School was opened up to locals.Officers say they will remain at the scene this afternoon.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Househillmuir Road in the Pollok area of Glasgow has re-opened following an earlier report of a possible ordnance item being found."The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended and the item was removed.

There is no ongoing risk to the public."Residents have been advised they can return to their properties and officers will remain in the area this afternoon.
