Two Greater Manchester pubs shortlisted in the Great British Pub Awards

Two Greater Manchester pubs been shortlisted for gongs at this year’s Great British Pub Awards. The annual awards finds hostelries nominated from up and down the UK, judged in a host of categories.

This year, independent favourite the Old Abbey Taphouse, in Hulme, has been put up for the Community Hero award, and is up against entrants in London, Nottinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Dorset.

Meanwhile, the Puss In Boots in Offerton, Stockport, is up in the Best Pub For Families category. There are also a handful of Cheshire pubs which have been shortlisted too. The Saddle Inn in Chester is up for Best Pub For Entertainment. The Old Abbey Taphouse is a Community Interest Company, hosting everything from music events to a ‘warm bank’, which found the pub opening its doors to allow people in the local area use its facilities during the energy crisis this winter.
