Two arrested for murder after man dies falling from balcony

A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man fell to his death from a Salford balcony. Police raced to Black Friar Court in Salford at 8.42pm on Sunday (August 11) following reports that a man had fallen from a balcony on the fourth floor.

The 57-year-old was rushed to hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead. A 37-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman have since been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody for questioning. In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said they were undertaking 'extensive enquiries' to understand how the man sadly lost his life. "Whilst we remain at the scene, speaking with residents and conducting extensive CCTV trawls, we need members of the public who may have been in the area, or at the address, on Sunday 11 August 2024 to come forward," they continued.

Detective Inspector David Ogden from our Salford district said: "We know the community will be concerned about this tragic death, and we share their concern. "We're appealing to anyone who has not yet spoken to us.
