The family of a man who was mauled to death by his own XL Bully have paid a moving tribute to him. David Daintree, 53, was found dead at Ashley Court in Accrington at around 9.30pm on Tuesday after police were called to reports of a dog attacking someone inside a house.
The dog, confirmed to be an XL Bully, was shot dead by police after officers assessed that it was "continuing to pose a significant threat of serious harm". READ MORE: Man, 53, mauled to death by his own XL Bully before police shoot dog dead In an emotional tribute released through Lancashire Police, his daughter Joanne said: "Dad was a man who had so much love to give he didn’t know what to do with it.
Everyone that has ever met him have all said what a lovely man he was." She said her father "went through some dark hard times" but was "working hard to get his life back on track" after the loss of his wife. "He was struggling as he lost the love of his life in 2021 but he was starting to get his big loving heart back," Joanne said.
Joanne described her father as "the kindest, most loving person you would ever meet". She said: "He would help anyone including people he didn’t know, and he has done that on a number of occasions.
