Tributes have been paid to a 'fun, loving' dad who died weeks after his cancer diagnosis.Kevin Gillett was told to go straight to hospital after having blood tests done at his GP surgery.

The 40-year-old had started feeling increasingly tired and unwell with sickness in April this year, which was initially believed to be symptoms of his Crohn's disease.

Mum Odette De Freitas claims Kevin struggled to get an in person doctor's appointment for six weeks prior. She said by the time he was finally seen in early June, he couldn't keep any food down at all, reports Liverpool Echo.Less than a week after his appointment on June 13, Odette said a nurse called Kevin to ask him to go straight to the Royal Liverpool Hospital where doctors would be waiting for him.Odette, 60, added: "He had high calcium levels.

I knew straight away it's indicative of advanced cancer because I've had it happen to someone I know."Kevin had a series of scans which showed he had a tumour on his liver that had attached to a vein.
