Thriller ‘The Couple Next Door’ Sells to More than 55 Territories (EXCLUSIVE)
variety.comLeo Barraclough International Features Editor Beta Film’s thriller series “The Couple Next Door,” commissioned by the U.K.’s Channel 4 and Starz in North America, has taken the global market by storm.
Beta Film secured major deals in more than 55 territories across the world, including RTL in Germany, RAI in Italy, Amazon in the Netherlands (first window) and RTL in the Netherlands (second window), as well as VTM in Belgium, and YES in Israel.
NBC Universal snapped up the six-hour drama for Brazil and Latin America, and NOW TV for Hong Kong. Hailed by The Guardian as “a sexy, fantastic time,” “The Couple Next Door” was Channel 4’s biggest drama streaming launch of all time and had a triumphant linear debut last winter.
The six-hour drama stars Sam Heughan (“Outlander,” “Suspect”), Eleanor Tomlinson (“The Outlaws,” “Poldark”), Jessica De Gouw (“Pennyworth,” “Our Man From Jersey”) and Alfred Enoch (“Harry Potter,” “How to Get Away With Murder”).
