A judge told two sisters to 'grow up' as they were jailed for framing their brother-in-law for a crime he did not commit. Helen and Michelle McPartland made up false allegations amid an ongoing family feud, sparked when they were left out of their late mother's will, the Liverpool Echo reports.
Victim Graham Potter was wrongly convicted of a criminal offence as a result of their brazen lies, which followed a jibe over a 'tummy tuck'.
The pair wept and wailed in the dock as a judge jailed them and told them some of the feud was 'pathetic'. The judge said the family arguments had gone 'way beyond tit for tat'. Yesterday (Tuesday), Liverpool Crown Court heard how Michelle McPartland had previously secured a non-molestation order against Mr Potter, the husband of her sister Alicia, banning him from contacting or approaching her.
Christopher Hopkins, prosecuting, described how Mr and Mrs Potter were in Widnes town centre with their dog on August 6 last year and were walking in the direction of Widnes Market when they spotted Helen McPartland's parked car nearby.
