As Manchester Pride kicked off this morning, Adam Maidment was enjoying brunch at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel with Antony Cotton.

It sounds like a fairly iconic way to start the celebrations to me. The Corrie actor told LGBTQ+ writer Adam that the hotel holds personal resonance for him.

He stayed there 24 years ago as he filmed scenes for his first big role in Queer as Folk - a show that had a huge impact on LGBTQ+ people across the country and Manchester’s gay scene. “That show changed the world and it changed how gay people were depicted in television dramas.
