'The Acolyte' Surpasses 'The Mandalorian' As Most Expensive 'Star Wars' Series

The first two episodes of The Acolyte are out now on Disney+! The new Star Wars debuted on Tuesday (June 4) and stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett and more.

If you didn’t know, the show has been in the works for about four years now, with Amandla‘s casting announced just two years ago.

Now that it’s out, it has been revealed that the Disney+ series had quite the big budget, surpassing that of the biggest Star Wars show, The Mandalorian. Keep reading to find out more… According to The New York Times, the eight-episode Leslye Headland-created series cost “roughly $180 million” to make!

If you split that between each episode, it comes to about $22.5 million per episode, making it one of the most expensive TV shows to produce.
