The mum of a teenage boy who came close to death after inhaling laughing gas at Parklife Festival says a ban won't stop kids using the drug as Class C is only a 'slap on the wrist'.

Cathy Mccann's son Alex Littler, now 17, was rushed to hospital last year after complaining his chest felt like 'popping bubble wrap'.

After confessing to the doctor and his mother that he had inhaled nitrous oxide whilst at Parklife Festival in Heaton Park, he was diagnosed with a ruptured and leaking lung.

At the time, doctors told Alex he was lucky to be alive and was able to avoid surgery by using an overnight mask to remove the trapped air around his lungs and heart.
