Angela Rippon has praised the backstage heroes' as her place on Strictly Come Dancing came under fire. The veteran broadcaster impressed the judges on Saturday night (November 11) during her latest stint in the ballroom with her professional dance partner Kai Widdrington.

The pair were hoping to bounce back from being in the dreaded dance-off the weekend before with their Paso Doble to Madonna’s Hung Up.

But during her dance, Angela slipped and the error was noticed by head judge Shirley Ballas. Despite the mistake, Angela received high scores from the judging panel with Shirley saying the slip 'didn't matter' while fellow judge Motsi Mabuse told her: "This Paso is going to Blackpool," ahead of this Saturday's show, which will be held in the iconic Blackpool Tower ballroom. Both couples had to reprise their routines again, including Krishnan and Lauren's samba to Bamboleo by Gipsy Kings, before the judges made their decision.
