Storm Jocelyn named as Scotland to be lashed with 80mph 'danger to life' wind

With Scotland still reeling from Storm Isha, Met Office forecasters have issued several weather warnings in advance of Storm Jocelyn this week.The Met Office has issued a new amber wind weather warning from Tuesday to Wednesday for gusts that could reach up to 80mph and risk a "danger to life".

The weather alert is in place western and northern Scotland from 6pm tomorrow, ending 8am on Wednesday.Storm Jocelyn has been named by Met Eireann today as extreme gusts and heavy downpours are expected to hit the UK this week.

The weather map shows the weather pattern travelling towards the UK and hitting Ireland first before cycling through Britain.A separate rain warning has also been issued by Met Office.

Covering the southwest of Scotland and the Highlands, the alert is in place from 7am on Tuesday, January 23 and ending at 8pm the same day.Forecasters said: "Outbreaks of heavy rain during Tuesday, associated with Storm Jocelyn, will see accumulations widely of 15 to 20mm with 40mm over high ground of southwest Scotland as well as the west Highlands.
