Steven Hammell admits the Motherwell job has wiped the smile off his face, but is determined to provide a team that the club and supporters can be proud of.Hammell knows results haven’t been good enough and is working round the clock to change that, both in terms of cutting out mistakes, and bringing in new players. The former left-back admits today’s home clash against Ross County is a ‘six-pointer’ as they try to stretch the gap over the basement side to that extent, while the Highland club look to go level on points by taking a win up the road.A win will also take Motherwell above Kilmarnock in the table, as the Ayrshire side tackle Celtic in the Viaplay Cup semi-final.Hammell said: “It’s a big game.
It’s a chance for us to put distance between us and them, but they’ll be looking at it the exact opposite.“We’re focused on what we do.
We know where we stand and what a win would do for us, so like every other game we’re going into it to win.“The table is still really congested.
If we win, we move up a spot, that’s the goal, and then we’ll take next week when it comes.“It’s one game at a time, it genuinely is for us.
