The last few years have been very challenging for everyone, including the St Andrew’s Hospice, and sadly this year, the local charity continues to face financial challenges.St Andrew’s Hospice is a registered charity providing specialist palliative care for patients with life-limiting conditions which require complex symptom management, and/or end-of-life care.

It provides multidisciplinary support for patients, their families and carers. The service is provided completely free of charge for the adult population of North and South Lanarkshire and is open to all.Joy Farquharson, chief executive said: “Here at St Andrew’s Hospice, we are passionate about providing patient-centred care to the community of Lanarkshire. "However, the depletion and inequity of funding leaves us facing very challenging decisions over the next 12-18 months as to the services we can continue to provide.

Over the last two years combined, the Hospice is left with a deficit over £1.5 million and this is simply not sustainable as a charity.“We are experiencing a high demand for all of our services.

We are sadly seeing patients with more complex needs and young patients with young children. Our services are needed more than ever and that is why we have launched this Urgent Care Appeal.”By donating to the Urgent Care Appeal, you can help patients and their families who need the specialist care and support the Hospice provides, like Ryan Brown and his family.
