Solar panels enable Lanarkshire village hall to cut running costs by 80 per cent

A village hall is Lanarkshire is bidding to be one of the UK’s most sustainable community-owned halls after installing equipment which will slash running costs by 80 per cent.

Crawfordjohn Village Hall near Biggar has installed 111 PV solar panels and four Tesla Powerwall batteries following a major grant derived from nearby wind farms.

Through generating enough electricity it will cut down massively on running costs with any surplus energy going back into the grid and providing an additional income stream.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
