Six youths arrested in connection antisocial behaviour in Ayrshire town centre

Six youths were arrested in Cumnock over the weekend as cops launched a crackdown on disorder. Arrests were made across the East Ayrshire town on Friday night after numerous reports of antisocial behaviour.

Police first raced to Ayr Road around 8.30pm after reports of antisocial behaviour. Three male youths, aged 14, 15 and 17 were arrested in connection with the incident.Later that night around 9.15pm, officers responded to reports of disorder and a 14-year-old male, and 17-year-old female were arrested.

Shortly after, at the bus stop, officers arrested a 14-year-old female also in connection with antisocial behaviour.Police are continuing a probe into the antisocial behaviour and disorder in the town and are pouring through CCTV images from around the area.Cops have put in place an action plan with increased dedicated patrols in the area in a bid to offer reassurance to the public and identify further offenders.

Sergeant Claire Garrett said: “Six young people were arrested last night, I’m sure that’s not how they thought their Friday night would end.
