These blockages made it harder for blood to flow, and according to the Mayo Clinic, can result in serious problems like strokes and heart attacks.The Mirror reports that this is usually linked to things like being overweight, smoking, or not exercising enough.
High cholesterol is often labelled a 'silent killer' because it's symptomless, and patients can only find out after having a blood test.The British Heart Foundation reports that almost half of UK adults are living with cholesterol levels above national guidelines of total cholesterol (greater than 5mmol/L).
