Nearly 50 traders have been affected as a section of Bury Market where dangerous concrete has been identified has had to suddenly shut.
Indoor stalls are temporarily closed as work is carried out to determine whether repairs are required due to the type of concrete at the market.
Bury council has confirmed that some Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) was used in the construction of the building in 1971.
Since September, 12 schools and college in Greater Manchester have been affected by new government guidance on RAAC. Other buildings in the city-region - including hospitals and shopping centres - have also been confirmed to feature the lightweight building material which could collapse.
