Ryanair, easyJet and Jet2 issue Italy travel warning to holidaymakers

Holidaymakers heading to Italy this weekend have been warned that they could face “disruption” and cancellations to flights as Italian air traffic control and ground handling staff walk out on Saturday, July 15.

Ryanair, easyJet and Jet2 have all advised customers that their flights could be impacted by the strike action. Staff are set to go on strike from 10am until 6pm.

The industrial action could lead to delays as well as cancellations. Airlines have urged customers to check with their websites before they travel, while customers whose flights are cancelled will be contacted directly by their airline.

In a statement on its website, Ryanair said: “Due to the Italian Air Traffic Control strike and Local airport providers (external ground handling)strike on Saturday, 15 July 2023, Ryanair regrets to inform customers that cancellations and flight disruptions will be expected on flights to and from Italy on Saturday, 15 July 2023.” It added: “We sincerely apologise to our customer for any inconvenience caused due to the Italian Air Traffic Control strike and Local airport providers (external ground handling)strike, which is beyond our control.” Jet2 said in a statement: “We wanted to let you know that national strike action is taking place in Italy from 09:00 BST until 17:00 BST on Saturday 15th July 2023.
